There are many things that you can do around the house to save energy. You can have plants around your place to help clean your immediate environment. Decreasing indoor pollutants by more than 50% can be achieved by simply adding plants to your house. Two plants that absorb toxic gases such as benzene and formaldehyde are English ivy and peace lilies. You should find plants that are not toxic if you have pets or small kids.

You can save up to 50% if you put in a low-flow shower head and faucet. Putting in new privies that use less water can be a good idea too. You can truly conserve a lot of water with the low-flush toilets and they produce less greenhouse gases. If you can’t afford a new toilet, you can use a plastic water bottle with the cap on which can throttle the water used with each flush.

The advantage of getting them repaired is not simply saving money, but keeping them out of the landfills. Another way to avoid wasting energy is to hang your clothes to dry instead of running a dryer. On average, families do 400  loads of laundry yearly so you can imagine the amount of energy required to dry clothes. Just hanging your clothes on an indoor drying rack can significantly bring down your electricity consumption. Clothes-lines now come in many styles that are easily movable, and when not in use can be put in storage. The clothes-lines may be put outside on a deck or patio depending on the weather condition.

These are probably in your cabinet with expired dates for taking them. Never flush these down the toilet, because that puts the drugs into the water supply, which could be really dangerous. The best way to get rid of them is to take them to the pharmacy and they will be able to assist you.

A wood-burning hearth sucks the heat from the house and directs it up the chimney. If this takes place, you need to ensure that you have  the correct settings so that the heat  will not leave  your home.
